Team Seattle Car is Under Construction

The Team Seattle Mazda RX8 to be raced at the 24 Hours of Daytona next January is now under construction. The car is being put together by SpeedSource, a major partner in the Mazda race development program since Mazda entered road racing in the 1990’s. The company has built more than 50 of the RX series cars and has won numerous championships. SpeedSource constructed the car run successfully in last year’s Grand Am Series by Team Seattle’s partner at Daytona, Dempsey Racing. Each car is hand built in the SpeedSource state-of-the-art facility located in South Florida just hours from Daytona. Even working on a fast-track schedule, it takes time to build a competitive car so the Team Seattle RX8 won’t be ready for track testing until early January. Team Seattle principal, Don Kitch Jr., says the schedule is fine with him: “These folks know how to build winning cars. I have no doubt the car will be very quick the minute we pull it off the trailer.”
We’ll be giving you regular updates on the progress of the car construction and hope to have a picture or two along the way.
