Move-in Underway at Daytona

DSCN2168The advance party of Team Seattle and Dempsey Racing has begun setting up camp at the Daytona International Speedway in preparation for this running of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona this weekend.  The group will be setting up the hospitality tents, the paddock and garage area and the track-side pit box.   It’s a major logistical undertaking in preparation for a very busy four days starting on Thursday.

On Thursday, drivers Don Kitch Jr., James Gue, Leh Keen, and Dave Lacey spend time in the Team Seattle car with both practice and qualifying sessions.  The team’s Mazda RX8 set the fastest practice time in sessions earlier this month and all four drivers are excited about the car’s potential.  Also on Thursday, more Team Seattle fans and supporters from Seattle, including the VIP Tour Package participants, arrive in Daytona Beach.

Friday is another busy day at the track with more practice and qualifying sessions.  Fans and supporters are treated to special “behinds the scenes” tours and watch the Continental Tire Challenge Cup race on Friday afternoon.  Then it is off to the Team Seattle dinner at the “Legends of Daytona” restaurant on the beach at Daytona.

Saturday and Sunday – Race Days! The 24 Hours of Daytona begin at 3:00pm Eastern Time.   You can watch most of the race on Speed TV and keep track of Team Seattle’s progress on Facebook and Twitter.  Just click on the links on the Team Seattle website to connect.
