Thanks to the Spotters!
Daytona is a very big race track and there can be a lot of things to pay attention to while driving at more than 165 miles an hour. A dedicated crew of volunteer spotters spent the race keeping drivers Leh Keen, James Gue, Don Kitch Jr., and Dave Lacey informed about what was going on around them. The spotters were high above the track in the tower section and would radio alerts to the drivers about the faster Daytona Prototype cars that would be closing at a rapid pace. (”DP on your right.” “Clear.” These are the typical calls.) In addition, they let the drivers know about incidents on the track or debris ahead. The spotters helped keep our drivers safe and for that Team Seattle says Thank You!
