The Team Seattle/Dempsey Racing Mazda has scored another podium finish by coming in third at the Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen, New York. Drivers James Gue and Leh Keen have finished on the podium in three of the six Grand-Am GT races thus far this season and are now solidly in contention for the championship.
James Gue started the race well back in the pack after the team struggled with mechanical issues during qualifying but quickly moved from 12th to the front of the GT field. Then he and co-driver Leh Keen shared duties and moved the car into first place. But, even though the #41 Mazda had led most of the race until the final hour, the team got caught up in a scramble during a full course yellow and dropped from first back to sixth position. Leh Keen did a masterful job of picking off three positions in the last 30 minutes of the race to earn the podium position. Photographs from race day can be found here.
James and Leh are tied for 6th place in the championship, 20 points behind the current SpeedSource leaders Jeff Segal and Emil Assentato.
Team Seattle will race next at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio on June 18th & 19th. Keep up to date with all of Team Seattle’s activity on and off the track on Facebook.
